Semi-Integrated Battery
Design Type
Fully hidden design: the battery is completely embedded into the downtube or seat tube, visually blending with the frame. The housing is made of high‑strength weather‑resistant engineering plastic, paired with a dedicated battery tray and locking mechanism. To remove the battery, first unlock the physical lock on the outside of the frame, then pull the battery out.
Energy Capacity & Communication
Integrated solutions range from 400Wh up to 800Wh energy capacity. A keyed dedicated connector at the rear or front end interfaces with the bike’s main bus. Using a CAN‑bus battery encryption communication protocol, the BMS can exchange real‑time information with the motor controller, including battery state of health and real‑time charge/discharge current limits.
Protection & Charging
The internal cells are high‑energy‑density 21700 or 18650 cells, with a compactly designed BMS and PCB. The complete vehicle achieves dust/water resistance of IPX6 to IPX7. Integrated batteries usually come with a 2‑year (or longer) complete bike warranty. Some support fast charging (4A charge current), reaching 80% charge in 2.5–3 hours.
Advantages
Reduces exposed wiring and potential failure points, lowers the bicycle’s center of gravity, optimizes aerodynamics, and improves aesthetics and riding stability.
Application Scenarios
Used on mid‑to‑high‑end and long‑distance touring e‑bikes, full‑suspension e‑MTBs, sporty e‑gravel bikes, and advanced touring e‑bikes. This is the flagship power unit configuration promoted by high‑end e‑bike complete vehicle manufacturers.
